WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The Technical Service Technician reports to the Technical Service Group Leader and is responsible for the physical testing of routine samples, recording of accurate test results, and performing daily instrument calibrations.

The successful candidate will:

• Use established methods to perform routine analyses on in-use customer submitted samples
• Maintain acceptable turnaround times (as established by the Technical Service Director) for routine analyses
• Perform testing on other samples as appropriate
• Maintain equipment and properly standardizes/calibrates instrumentation
• Record test data proficiently and accurately
• Prepare laboratory reagents
• Assist with weekly inventory of supplies
• Participate in general housekeeping including routine cleaning and maintenance, and performs other duties as requested by management

WHAT WE EXPECT

Required

• 1-3 years of industrial laboratory experience
• The ideal applicant will be comfortable working as part of a team
• Basic knowledge of wet chemistry
• The ideal applicant will work well in a fast-paced environment and will be able to handle stressful situations in a constructive manner
• Excellent verbal and good written communication skills

Desirable

• A four-year degree in a science field; Chemistry is preferred, but Biology, Physics, etc. will also be considered
• Experience with XRF, FTIR, viscosity, titrations (manual and/or automatic), Karl Fischer, flash point measurements
• Microsoft applications experience (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook)
• SAP computer system experience
• A mechanical aptitude
